TRANSCRIPTS
Between 1982 and 2006, all Ideas broadcasts were transcribed and offered for sale to the public. A few more were made after that date. "How To Think About Science," from 2007 and 2008, for example, got transcribed - mainly to shut me up, as I recall - but the CBC eventually took the view that, with so many "platforms" available, we no longer needed transcripts. I argued that printed, and, therefore searchable and citable, texts were a uniquely important reference tool and an important form of reciprocity with the scholars, both amateur and professional, on whom we relied in making our programmes, but my argument did not succeed. If you can't find a transcript of a series on the Podcasts page that was broadcast between '82 and '06, it's probably because I have it only in hard copy. I will scan these and add them, when I can.
